Japan, Empire. An Order of the Rising Sun, I Class Badge, with Sash for Ladies GTRexclude and a maker’s mark of(, Kyokujitsu sh). Institution Date: April 10, 1875 by Emperor Meiji. A Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, I Class in silver with a red cabochon centerpiece and white enamelled rays. The star is affixed to an enamelled Paulownia Flowers suspension of purple and green enamels with Japanese Kanji on the reverse. The medal measures at 76mm (w) x 113. 5mm (h to the top of the suspension), and weighs 120. 7 grams. It is accompanied by its thin period sash
