The Tamdhu Distillery sits directly on the famous River Spey just downstream from Cragganmore and just upstream from Aberlour in the Knockando region. It was founded in 1896 by a group of private bottlers seeking their own consistent source of supply. Production started in 1897. The facility has been closed twice from 1927 through 1947 due to Prohibition and then WWII
